·         Drugs used in ART can interact with hormonal contraceptives.
·         Hormonal contraceptives may be in the form of pills or injectable.
·         The interaction can cause increase or decrease in the concentration of the contraceptive hormones.
·         This interaction is highly variable between different individuals as well as between different drugs.
·         There is a variety of other contraceptive methods that you can choose apart from drugs.
·         Condoms or other barrier contraceptives can be used safely.
·         Similarly, implantable uterine devices should also be effective.
·         You should consult your doctor to have a detailed discussion on the best method of contraception for you.
·         If you do decide to use a hormonal contraceptive, it would be advisable to combine it with another method such as barrier contraceptive.
